Boom Lake

Well, this was a ruff day… With one of the most beautiful sunrises I’ve seen in a long time, I took off down the trail hoping to reach Boom Lake, which is a little more than 5km away, before the sunrise fully burned out. But as you’ll see in the video I reach the lake only to find that sunrise had completely finished. Luckily this hike was not a waste of time because after seeing this location and having time to walk around I’ve got some cool ideas for summertime shots when the lake isn’t frozen.

Photos Taken

I’m usually really bad at taking “selfies” but this one really worked out well. I will say this is the first time I thought about what I was wearing and how to make it look best with the environment.

Following the theme of my winter photography, when in doubt find some interesting textures. So even with the harsh morning light, I took this shot focusing on the textures in the rock wall and the peaks.
